Castles in Lviv region to undergo audit and tourism to be developed through 2027

The Lviv Regional State Administration, together with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, has agreed to carry out a comprehensive audit of the region’s castles in order to assess the condition of historical monuments and identify their restoration needs through to 2027. The relevant agreements were reached during a working meeting with Deputy Minister of Culture Tetiana Filevska.

According to the Lviv Regional State Administration, the region maintains leading positions in tourism indicators. Over the first nine months of the current year, revenues from the tourist tax exceeded 55 million UAH, which is almost one third more than in the same period last year.

Some 12 million UAH has been allocated from the regional budget for the development of the tourism sector. The funds are being used, in particular, to equip campsites and support the “Therapy through Travel” project, which has already covered more than 3,500 defenders and members of their families.

In parallel, the region is developing barrier-free tourism, in particular by installing tactile mini-sculptures, as well as implementing projects to revitalise historic estates in Rozdil and Skole.

“Lviv region has gained valuable experience in implementing various tourism projects. In particular, this concerns the barrier-free nature and accessibility of tourist sites. And we are ready to share this experience with other regions and scale up successful practices,” said Ivan Sobko.

The Lviv Regional State Administration emphasises that preserving national heritage and unlocking the potential of the Carpathian region remain shared priorities for the region and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine within the framework of the new long-term Strategy for Sustainable Tourism of Ukraine.
