In the Lviv Region, a selection has been put together of eight parks and natural locations that are especially appealing in autumn. Here you can enjoy an unhurried walk, spend time with loved ones and relax in the fresh air amid colourful autumn scenery.
Among the recommended places is the arboretum in the village of Stradch in Yavoriv District, located roughly 17 km from Lviv. This is a dendrological park in the hills of Roztochia with a large variety of trees and plantings. Its distinctive look is enhanced by an avenue of evergreen Douglas firs and tall thujas.
Another location in Yavoriv District is the Roztochia Nature Reserve. Here beech, pine-oak and oak forests are interspersed with meadows, lakes and wetlands that create striking landscapes in autumn. The reserve is home to an environmental education centre and a nature museum, and there are designated educational eco-trails. Visits are only possible by prior arrangement with the administration and in compliance with the established rules.
In Truskavets, for autumn walks it is recommended to visit the Pidgirya Landscape Park at 2 Karpatska Street. This is a cosy space with greenery and views over the spa town, ideal for peaceful relaxation. Another well-known spot at the resort is the Adamivka Spa Park at 1 Boryslavska Street. The park was laid out back in 1895 and today is a place for walks among old trees, avenues and spa architecture, which is particularly attractive in autumn.
Not far from Lviv, in the village of Obroshyne in Lviv District, lies the Dzherelo Zoological and Dendrological Park. It combines plantings of various species of trees and plants with a zoological section where you can see animals. In autumn, the park stands out for its bright foliage and tranquil atmosphere, making it appealing for both children and adults.
Another contemporary location in Lviv District is PARK 3020 in the village of Strilky. This is Ukraine’s first open-air contemporary sculpture park, showcasing works by Ukrainian and international artists. Visitors can view the sculptures while strolling around the extensive grounds against a backdrop of autumn landscapes.
In Lviv itself, the list of autumn routes includes Stryiskyi Park, one of the city’s most popular recreation areas. In autumn it is notable for its avenues, old trees, pond and abundant greenery turning to autumn colours. Also recommended is the Znesinnia Regional Landscape Park. It features hills, forest paths, lakes and viewpoints with panoramas of Lviv. This location is well suited to active walks in nature not far from the city centre.
