On 31 October and 1 November, Lviv will increase public transport services running to the city cemeteries. This is being done to make it easier for residents to reach burial sites on remembrance days. The changes were announced by the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council.
On these days trolleybus No. 31, as well as bus routes No. 8a, 29, 46 and 61, will operate according to weekday timetables, meaning more services than at weekends.
On tram routes No. 1 and No. 7, the number of low-floor trams will be increased to make boarding and alighting easier for passengers, particularly older people and those with reduced mobility.
“On remembrance days, the number of people wishing to visit the city cemeteries traditionally increases. Therefore, we have put in place additional measures to make it more convenient for residents to reach burial sites by public transport,” said Oleh Partyka.
The city department is asking Lviv residents to take these changes into account when planning their trips to cemeteries on remembrance days.
