A new leisure area has appeared in Weinberg Park in Vynnyky. New park furniture has been installed by the avenue on the side of the Singing Field, where members of the community often organise recreation and various events, the municipal enterprise “Green Lviv” reported.
In the section, which is considered quite busy, four benches and litter bins have been placed. Previously, there were no designated seating areas here, so visitors now have more conveniences during walks and when attending events.
The outdoor furniture was installed by employees of the state enterprise “Lychakiv-Park”, which has been responsible for the care and maintenance of Weinberg Park for several years now. The purchase of the benches and bins was organised by the Department of Ecology of the Lviv City Council.
Weinberg Park was created in 2016. It was named in honour of the historic German colony of Weinbergen (“Wine Hills”), which existed on the territory of present-day Vynnyky from the late 18th century until April 1940. The first German settlers appeared in Vynnyky back in the time of King Lev Danylovych in the 13th century, and the local German community used part of the forest massif in the western part of the Dibrova tract.
The plantings in the park are mainly lime trees, maples and horse chestnuts. In spring, the area is adorned with forsythia bushes, and in summer with roses, which makes Weinberg Park one of the most attractive green spots in Vynnyky.
