832 Fires Since the Beginning of the Year in Lviv Region’s Ecosystems

Since the start of this year, there have been 832 incidents of fires in the ecosystems of Lviv Region, as reported by the Lviv Regional Council. Specialists have conducted over 140 inspections and issued 99 administrative protocols for violations of fire safety regulations.

The most critical situation is observed in the Lviv, Stryi, and Drohobych districts. In the past day alone, 58 fires were registered, with a record high of 97 fires in a single day.

Mykola Vynyarskyi noted that the majority of those affected are older people. He emphasised the importance of distributing promotional materials and involving the clergy to prevent the burning of dry grass.

Fines for burning dry grass start from 3,060 hryvnias. Rescue services stress that burning dry vegetation poses a threat to life and destroys ecosystems, as pointed out by tragic incidents: in the Drohobych area, three people died from burns.
