Drohobych community allocates over UAH 15.5 million for veterans’ housing

In the Drohobych community, another Defender of Ukraine has received a state cash compensation to purchase their own home. The veteran, who has a Group II disability as a result of the war, was paid UAH 2,799,909.24. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.

The Mayor of Drohobych, Taras Kuchma, met with the veteran and his family. During the conversation, they discussed options for purchasing housing, further support for the family and possible ways of addressing other socially important issues.

For our community, it is a great honour to have among us such courageous people who have stepped forward to defend Ukraine. It is our duty to support them not only with words, but with concrete actions. It is important that our Defenders and their families have decent living conditions, a home of their own and confidence in the future. We will continue to work to ensure that state guarantees become real support for every veteran,” the Mayor noted.

The City Council emphasises that this is not the first such payment in the Drohobych community. Since the beginning of 2026, veterans have already received UAH 12.7 million in state compensation for the purchase of housing, and the total amount of such payments has reached UAH 15.5 million.

Officials stress that behind every amount there is a specific story of a Defender and their family, for whom the compensation means the opportunity to buy their own home, return to a more familiar life and plan for the future. Such payments are seen as an important step towards ensuring decent housing conditions for people who have sacrificed their health for Ukraine.

The compensation is provided in accordance with Resolution No. 719 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 19 October 2016. The programme is implemented with the support of the European Union under the Ukraine Facility instrument.

In the Drohobych community, they note that they will continue working to implement state guarantees for the Defenders of Ukraine, both men and women, so that veterans and their families receive appropriate support and feel genuine care from the community.
