Good news in Lviv. According to the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv, the evacuated children from Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt are being discharged home today after a successful kidney transplant from a posthumous donor. The donor for them was a 29-year-old man who died of a stroke. The relatives agreed to the transplant.

“12-year-old Yurko and 15-year-old Ihor, who underwent dialysis together in the capital’s Okhmatdyt, received a new organ together in one day and are discharged from the hospital in one day,” TMO №1 in Lviv said.

Yurchyk, a native of Zhytomyr Oblast, was treated in Kyiv for three years. His kidneys failed after he contracted sore throat. Since then, the boy has been on dialysis.

Igor from the Donetsk region. The boy was born with diseased kidneys, treatment did not help, the disease progressed. He was on dialysis for two years, the last six months in Kyiv, before that in Zaporizhia.

When the war broke out, children hiding from shelling in shelters were evacuated to Lviv, where they were lucky enough to receive donor kidneys on March 12. Now the boys are being discharged from the hospital and making plans for life.

“They also transplanted the heart of 40-year-old Vitaliy from Chernivtsi. His life changed dramatically in 2016, when the common cold led to delusional cardiomyopathy. As a result of the disease, the man’s heart doubled and he could not pump enough blood. Since then, he suffered from shortness of breath and could not work and live fully. However, just two weeks after the heart transplant, Vitaly is feeling great. He is in a hurry to hug his two sons at home and is already making plans, among which is to travel with his family! ”TMO № 1 in Lviv reported.

Doctors and relatives of the rescued children sincerely thank the relatives of the donor for the decision.
