In 2025, the communities of Lviv Region allocated significant funds to support the military.
The head of Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that the communities of the region allocated almost 4.5 billion UAH for needs related to Russian armed aggression. This accounts for 10.3% of all expenditures excluding targeted transfers. Compared to 2024, funding increased by 863 million UAH. Almost all communities in the region increased their share of security expenditures.
The leaders in prioritizing security spending were Sokolnytska (31.2%), Pidberiztsivska (27.6%), Rozvadivska (24.5%), Morshynska (21.9%), and Velykomostivska (19.7%). “From the regional budget in 2025, 1.19 billion UAH was directed to wartime requests. However, there is also an unpleasant part of the picture. In the fourth year of full-scale war, there are still communities in the region allocating critically low funds for needs related to Russian armed aggression,” emphasized the head of Lviv region.
The anti-leaders of the ranking were Dobrosyn-Maherivska and Starosambirska (both at 2.7%), Khyrivska (2.3%), Turkivska (2.2%), Sambirska (2.0%), and Pidkaminska (1.6%). Overall, in the Lviv region, 20 communities allocated less than 5% of their budgets for defense. “I appeal to the leaders of the communities for whom security has not yet become a priority. Every percentage of the budget is your position. It is visible. It is assessed. Find the responsibility and courage in yourself to change the situation. And separately – to the residents of Lviv region. The local budget is your taxes and your security. You not only have the right but also the duty to know how the community disposes of funds during wartime. Do not remain silent,” added Maksym Kozytskyi.
