Critical facilities in Lviv receive additional uninterruptible power systems

Lviv has received 12 sets of battery uninterruptible power systems for critical infrastructure facilities and medical institutions to ensure their operation during possible power supply disruptions in winter.

The equipment received has already been delivered to LMKP «Lvivvodokanal», LMKP «Lvivteploenergo», LKP «Lvivsvitlo», as well as municipal medical institutions. The systems are intended to maintain the uninterrupted operation of essential services and increase the resilience of the city’s infrastructure in wartime conditions.

Lviv received this assistance as part of the Winter Assistance package, financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) within the framework of transitional aid and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Ukraine) GmbH.

Before the equipment was handed over, the team of the Lviv Bureau of European Integration, together with the City Institute, assessed the needs of municipal enterprises and institutions, identified priority facilities and prepared an application for international technical assistance.

“During the war, the issue of the city’s energy resilience remains one of the key priorities. Thanks to cooperation with our international partners, we can respond promptly to the needs of municipal services and provide them with the necessary equipment. These uninterruptible power systems will help maintain the operation of critical services for residents even in the event of emergency power cuts. We sincerely thank the GIZ team and the Government of Germany for their trust, support and many years of partnership with Lviv,” said First Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko.

The Lviv City Council emphasises that strengthening the energy resilience of critical infrastructure is one of the priority areas of cooperation with international partners and donors. The new uninterruptible power systems will be an additional resource to ensure the uninterrupted operation of municipal services and institutions that provide essential services to community residents every day.
