Lviv is 100% ready for the start of the heating season. As Oleksandr Odinets, director of the housing and infrastructure department of the LMR, reported, the heating facilities are ready for operation in the winter period, the indoor systems are filled with water, and gas supply contracts have been signed.
Therefore, if there is a suitable temperature, utility companies will supply heat to the houses. Also, in view of the war and possible various emergency situations, metal stoves are installed in the houses and firewood is collected.
“Today we are 100% ready for the heating season. We have carried out all regular work on heat supply sources. In particular, we replaced about 4.5 km of heat networks, repaired and adjusted all the necessary heat sources – ITP, CTP, boiler houses, there are agreements for the supply and distribution of gas.
Now, together with the regional Hydrometeorological Center, we monitor the outside air temperature daily. Norms and legislation regarding the beginning of the heating season have not changed – for three days, the average daily temperature must be below 8 degrees. Such a temperature is not expected until the middle of October, so we will not start the heating season until then. If the institutions of the humanitarian bloc – education, medicine – need heating, we are ready to provide them with heat in accordance with the letters of appeal,” said Oleksandr Odinets, director of the housing and infrastructure department of the LMR.
According to him, taking into account the fact that the country is in a state of war and various threats are possible, the city is preparing for various scenarios of the heating season. Therefore, in addition to the usual preparation for winter, scenarios of response and actions in case of restriction or absence of gas and electricity supply have been developed. In particular, they are stockpiling alternative types of fuel, preparing alternative sources of heating (metal stoves), and finalizing the procedure for purchasing firewood for the city reserve. As of now, about 700 metal furnaces have been purchased and made by our own forces, which will be used if necessary.
Thus, the Varshavska-407 management company installs metal furnaces in houses. As Oksana Gadyo, the director of the management company, emphasizes, boilers are installed in those houses where it is technically possible.
“Every year, preparation for the heating season was standard – inspection of central heating, engineering networks, replacement of necessary equipment, window glazing, roof repair, etc. But this year, in view of the war, we are additionally installing in the houses, where it is technically possible, boilers, so that in case of an emergency the residents can warm up and drink tea. Therefore, we prepare firewood and deliver it to the houses where the stoves are installed. We are ready for the usual heating season. The acts of readiness of the buildings have been signed, the networks are filled with water,” Oksana Gadyo stressed.
