Lviv Receives €22.2 Million for Sewage Treatment Plant Modernization

Lviv has received a significant grant for the modernization of its sewage treatment facilities.

At the reconstruction conference in Rome, agreements were signed that will provide the city with a €22.2 million non-repayable grant. This will allow the renovation of a key facility that purifies all of Lviv’s wastewater. After modernization, the facility will efficiently clean water, reduce waste, and produce electricity and heat from biogas for the city’s needs.

The total budget of the second phase of the project amounts to €29 million. \”We thank our Nordic friends from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland for their support!\” said the organizers. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and the Danish Investment Fund for Developing Countries (DSIF).

The conference proved to be very fruitful for Lviv. The city gained new agreements, partnerships, and acquaintances. A similar conference will take place in Poland next year.
