The Lviv City Council has allocated 6 million hryvnias for the annual support of children of Ukraine’s fallen defenders. This decision was made by the city council’s executive committee on 10 April 2026. The funds will be received by the parents or legal representatives of 120 children.
The total amount of support is 6 million UAH, of which 5.5 million UAH is designated for 110 children for the year 2026, and 500 thousand UAH for 10 children for the year 2025. The annual support for each child amounts to 50 thousand UAH, which families can use for education, health improvement, and other needs.
“No support can replace the most precious thing for children — their mother or father. But it is the community’s duty to stand by these families, help the children grow, learn, recover, and feel that they are not left alone with their loss. With this support, we aim to provide not only financial assistance but also a sign of care, attention, and gratitude for the greatest sacrifice their parents made for Ukraine,” stated the head of the city’s social protection department, Tetiana Kolesnyk.
In March of this year, similar support was already received by 85 parents for 114 children, totalling 6 million UAH. As of 1 April 2026, in the Lviv city territorial community, 1,045 children hold the status of a family member of a fallen defender of Ukraine, of which 656 are children under 18 years old.
