The executive committee of Lviv City Council has decided to allocate a further 3 million UAH for annual targeted assistance to the children of fallen Defenders of Ukraine, both men and women, as well as to the children of persons with group 1 disability caused by the war.
Funds of 50,000 UAH for education and health improvement will be provided to 46 children for the current year and 14 children for the previous year. The total amount of payments under this decision is 3 million UAH.
The City Council reminds that in August this year annual targeted assistance had already been granted to 64 children for a total of 3.8 million UAH. The funding is provided within the framework of the Comprehensive Programme for Supporting War Veterans, Family Members of Fallen (Deceased) Defenders of Ukraine, and Certain Other Categories of Persons.
The annual assistance for education and health improvement is provided to children under 18 years of age. It is available to:
- children of fallen Defenders of Ukraine, both men and women;
- children of persons with group 1 disability caused by the war;
- children of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
To receive the payment, one of the parents or a legal representative (guardian) must submit an application to any district social protection office, to an Administrative Services Centre, or to the Lviv Centre for Services for Combatants.
As the City Council notes, if the family of a Defender, male or female, for objective reasons is unable this year to complete the paperwork confirming their status as a family of a fallen service member, they will be able to receive the assistance next year — at once for two years.
As of 1 August 2026, 1,177 children in the Lviv community have the status of a family member of a fallen Defender of Ukraine, male or female; of these, 735 are under 18 years of age, and a further 442 are adults.
