The executive committee of the Lviv City Council has decided to allocate a further UAH 4.3 million in financial assistance to residents whose homes were damaged by Russian attacks on 24 March and 30 July 2026. The funds will be used to reimburse the costs of repairing damaged windows and doors.
According to the city’s Department of Social Protection, this concerns 146 applications from residents seeking reimbursement for the repair of 306 windows and 11 doors. Following the attack on 24 March 2026, the total amount of assistance exceeds UAH 2.8 million, and after the shelling on 30 July 2026 it amounts to UAH 9.8 million.
Department representatives stress that the destruction of housing means not only financial losses for people, but also a serious psychological blow. From the very first days after the shelling, social workers have been advising residents, helping them with paperwork and supporting them until they receive compensation.
“Damaged or destroyed housing is always far more than just material losses. For people it is stress, pain and a sense of losing safety in their own home. That is why it is important to us that, at this moment, people are not left alone with their problems. From the very first days after the shelling, our social workers were alongside residents: advising them, helping them to complete the necessary paperwork, explaining what support they could receive from the city. And we are still supporting people now, so that they can receive compensation as quickly as possible and restore their damaged homes,” — Tetiana Kolesnyk
In the summer of 2025, Lviv approved a new Procedure for providing assistance to residents whose homes were damaged as a result of missile strikes or drone attacks. The document provides for financial support for owners of houses and flats damaged by blast waves, debris or flooding after shelling. Assistance may be provided either as partial reimbursement for specific elements (for example, windows or doors), or as compensation for the cost of repairing flats or roofs in private houses.
Residents must submit an application for compensation no later than six months after the shelling.
At the end of July 2026, Lviv also increased the maximum amounts of financial assistance for those whose homes were damaged as a result of enemy attacks. It is now possible to receive:
- up to UAH 20,000 for the repair of damaged entrance doors;
- up to UAH 15,000 for each damaged window, window unit, block or structure.
Previously, the maximum amount of assistance was UAH 8,000 for entrance doors and UAH 12,000 for each window.
