The executive committee of the Lviv City Council has approved a decision to provide another package of financial assistance to residents whose homes were damaged by Russian attacks on 24 March and 30 July 2026. The city has additionally allocated UAH 4.4 million to reimburse the costs of restoring damaged windows and doors.
According to the city’s Social Protection Department, this concerns 133 applications from residents. In these homes, 309 windows and 20 doors were damaged, for which people will receive compensation.
In total, following the attack on 24 March 2026, the amount of approved assistance comes to UAH 2.8 million, and after the shelling on 30 July 2026 it is UAH 5.5 million. At present, the Social Protection Department is processing a further 107 applications: 105 from residents of the Zaliznychnyi district and 2 from residents of the Sykhivskyi district.
Financial assistance is paid from the budget of the Lviv community under the Programme for Eliminating the Consequences of Emergencies Caused by the Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation. The funds can be used to pay for or partially reimburse the costs of installing or restoring damaged window structures, entrance doors and other property.
In summer 2025, Lviv approved an updated procedure for providing assistance to residents whose homes were damaged as a result of missile strikes or drone attacks. The document provides for support to owners of houses and flats damaged by blast waves, shrapnel or flooding after shelling. Assistance may cover both partial reimbursement for individual elements (for example, windows or doors) and the costs of repairing flats and roofs in private houses. An application for compensation must be submitted no later than 6 months after the shelling.
At the end of July 2026, Lviv increased the maximum amounts of such financial assistance. Residents can now receive:
- up to UAH 20,000 for restoring damaged entrance doors;
- up to UAH 15,000 for each damaged window, window unit, block or structure.
Previously, the maximum amount of payments was UAH 8,000 for entrance doors and UAH 12,000 for each window.
