The Lviv region continues the practical rollout of the second-generation SmartTacho system. This digital solution is designed for remote monitoring of compliance with work and rest schedules by drivers of freight and passenger transport.
The system has already passed the testing stage, and Ukrtransbezpeka inspectors have become familiar with how it works in real road control conditions.
What the SmartTacho Technology Does
SmartTacho is a modern tool that makes it possible to read data from digital tachographs without stopping every vehicle. Information can be transmitted while the vehicle is moving, making inspections faster and more accurate.
The technology automatically analyzes data on drivers’ working hours and rest periods. When the system detects signs of possible violations, the relevant information is sent to an inspector’s tablet and used during checks through the digital eInspector system.
The Lviv region has become the first region in Ukraine where the second-generation SmartTacho is being tested in practical road supervision.
Why the Second-Generation SmartTacho Is Being Introduced
The launch of this technology is part of Ukrtransbezpeka’s digital transformation. It is intended to make transport control more objective, transparent, and convenient for responsible businesses.
The system helps to:
- improve the effectiveness of roadside inspections;
- reduce the influence of the human factor;
- minimize the number of unjustified vehicle stops;
- ensure a more transparent control mechanism;
- strengthen the safety of passenger and freight transport.
After practical testing is completed in the Lviv region, the second-generation SmartTacho system is expected to be expanded to other regions of Ukraine. This approach should help build a modern transport control system in line with European standards.
