Wards of Drohobych Tercentre were congratulated on Mother’s Day

On 9 May, a literary and musical composition on the occasion of Mother’s Day was held in a cosy room of the Drohobych City Territorial Centre for Social Services (social services). At the solemn event, warm poetic lines and sincere wishes were read to the wards who have carried the honorary title of mother with dignity through the years, as well as heartfelt songs and touching musical compositions.

The event began with a minute of silence for the fallen Heroes, who were raised by their mothers who were brave defenders and patriots.

Maria Liutyk, Director of the Drohobych City Territorial Centre, welcomed the participants and noted that May is rich in family holidays and is also the month of the Holy Virgin. Every year, in this springtime, a pilgrimage is organised to Hrushev, where the Virgin Mary once appeared and where all pilgrims have the opportunity to thank the Heavenly Mother for all her favours, as well as to pray for their intentions, for the happy fate of children, and for our Ukraine.

For each of us, our mothers are guardian angels, and wherever we go, we remember our mother’s home and warm motherly hands. Maria Liutyk congratulated those present on the holiday, wishing them health, many years of life for the joy of their children and grandchildren, peace and harmony in their homes, the Lord’s grace and the protection of the Mother of God.

The youngest participant of the event, Solomiya Zhyvka, recited a poem-prayer to the Heavenly Queen and shared with the audience the gentle chords of the violin, while the members of the Kalynonka choir, which operates at the tercentre, sang a song of praise in honour of the Mother of God. The festivities were enhanced by poems by famous Ukrainian poets full of love for their mother and Ukraine.

An instructive poem read by Nina Palienko, a regular participant of our events, reminded everyone of a simple truth: time is fleeting, just like the life of a dear mother, and the songs about holy maternal love from the repertoire of the Kalynonka choir moved the guests to tears.

The literary and musical composition was attended by many elderly women who deserve to have grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. The grandmothers and great-grandmothers present were presented with a collection of songs by young talents: students of Drohobych Music School No. 2 Anna Malay and Sofia Romanyshyn (taught by Tatiana Toporovich).

The event ended with a solemn moment when dear mothers were presented with bouquets of fragrant lilies of the valley and sweets as a token of gratitude for the sanctity of their souls and wished a happy long life among their loving children and grandchildren.
