In the future, these vehicles will be equipped with automated turrets capable of firing at enemy aerial targets without direct human intervention.
The joint project of the Lviv OVA and the Lviv IT Cluster “Hunters for Shaheds” was launched. Already on November 28, the forces of PvK Zahid received five vehicles equipped with special equipment that enables the destruction of enemy drones.
“We launched the cool project “Hunters for Shaheds” to protect critical infrastructure facilities of Lviv Oblast from attacks by Shahed drones, as well as to ensure uninterrupted operation of the region under the threat posed by such attacks. These vehicles remain in the Lviv region, they will strengthen the work of our anti-aircraft defense, they will become one of the additional elements. Thanks to the Lviv IT Cluster, which since the beginning of the full-scale war has been and remains a flagship in helping and developing such important projects,” said the head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi.
The project itself provides for the transfer of 10 vehicles equipped with searchlights, thermal imagers, lasers and everything necessary for combat work to the air defense forces of the Western region. About 30 million hryvnias are invested in this.
“The main highlight of this project is the automated turrets, which will later be installed on the transferred cars. They will be able to detect enemy targets in the air, capture and destroy them in automated mode, thereby increasing the effectiveness of mobile fire groups. More than 50 IT companies have joined the “Hunters for Shaheds”, so we encourage even more representatives of socially responsible businesses to join the project. The contribution to this project is a contribution to the security of the region and ensuring the smooth operation of all sectors of the economy”, emphasized the CEO of the Lviv IT Cluster, Stepan Veselovskyi.
The project “Hunters for Shaheds” is part of the initiative of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, which provides for the creation of special mobile brigades to protect the region’s critical infrastructure from attacks by enemy UAVs. They will have at their disposal transport and appropriate equipment to respond quickly to the movement of enemy targets and strengthen the work of our air defense.
“As of today, at the request of Lviv OVA, socially responsible business has helped staff 45 mobile fire groups for the “Zahid” PvC. In addition, we equipped 13 more groups. They will serve the new unit that was created to protect the skies above our region. There are much more such mobile fire groups, but for security reasons I will not name the number,” added Maksym Kozytskyi.
