The number of patients with ARVI and influenza in Drohobych region increased by 101 cases over the past week

The incidence rate of influenza and ARVI in Drohobych remains high. This information was announced on 5 February during a weekly staff meeting by Volodymyr Chuba, head of the health department of the city council.

According to him, over the past seven days, doctors have recorded an increase in the number of patients by 101 people. Thus, as of Monday morning, there are 421 patients. The largest increase in patients is recorded in the following age groups: 5-14 years old – 121 cases over the past week, and 30-64 years old – 138 cases. The only good news is that the number of hospitalisations has decreased over the past seven days – only 14 cases. Also, 5 new cases of covid were diagnosed.

In one of the city’s educational institutions, two classes have been transferred to distance learning due to the high incidence of schoolchildren.

Doctors say that often patients who are diagnosed with SARS are found to have influenza during a thorough examination. Therefore, experts advise staying at home at the first signs of the disease to avoid infecting others and consulting a family doctor to avoid complications.

Among the complications most often found in patients are severe pneumonia, high body temperature that cannot be brought down, and a severe cough that develops into bronchitis. This is especially true for children. Therefore, a thorough examination and timely access to qualified medical care from family doctors play an important role, the doctors add.
