Social housing for IDPs under construction in Lviv presented at ReBuild Ukraine conference

The AID & DEVELOPMENT MEETUP forum discussed the challenges and opportunities in projects to restore critical community infrastructure.

In particular, representatives of the “Housing for IDPs” project spoke about social houses being built in Lviv.

Innovative housing for IDPs, which is part of the UNBROKEN ecosystem, is being built in Lviv in accordance with all accessibility requirements. This was discussed at the conference by Joslyn Cornet, Head of the Recovery, Energy, Infrastructure and Environment Department of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, and Inna Svystun, Director of the Economic Development Department of the Lviv City Council.

“It is very important for the EU to support the financing of the social housing project, as we understand the urgency and need for such actions. We have good and reliable partners in the cities, and the project in Lviv is special because it is for wounded Ukrainians who need our support,” said Josep Cornet.

“This project is an organic part of UNBROKEN. We are currently in the final stages of building the first house. It will be energy efficient with all the necessary elements for living. The city is proud that we, together with the European Union, were able to implement this in the shortest possible time,” said Inna Svystun.

The construction of housing for wounded Ukrainians began in June 2023 with funding from the European Union in Ukraine, managed by Nefco in Ukraine. The project is being implemented by the city team. The first house is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
