On the Skole – Slavske highway, major work is underway to replace old and unsafe bridges with new, safer crossings. These bridge structures are essential for both local community logistics and the thriving tourist traffic to the Carpathians.
According to the Restoration and Infrastructure Development Service of Lviv Region, the reconstruction of the right lanes on two bridges has been fully completed. Vehicle movement is now allowed for all weight categories without restrictions.
Completed Work on the Right Sections Includes:
- Removal of damaged structural elements
- Installation of new bridge deck slabs
- Anchoring of reinforcement mesh
- Restoration of access roads
- Revitalization of exterior and interior elements
- Riverbed reinforcement under one of the bridges
Ongoing Works on the Left Sections
Construction crews are now focused on completing the left sides of the bridges. Progress so far includes:
- Reinforcement of overlay slabs
- Preparation of slabs and retaining walls for shotcrete application
Next stages of construction include:
- Laying the overlay slab
- Installing waterproofing
- Reinforcing and concreting sidewalks
- Applying protective layers
Work Also Progressing on Another Bridge
On another bridge, right-side repairs have already been carried out:
- Installation of expansion joints with monolithic integration
- Anti-corrosion protection of metal spans
- Waterproofing of spans and transition slabs
Upcoming steps involve:
- Drainage system setup
- Completion of expansion joint areas
- Asphalt concrete surfacing
Completion Timeline Still Unclear
Despite significant progress, the remaining work—especially on the left sides—suggests the entire project may not be finished before the onset of cold weather.
Small Bridges with Big Importance
Though the bridges are not large, their impact on local connectivity and tourism is substantial. During the rainy season, the structures must withstand strong mountain streams while ensuring safe passage for vehicles and pedestrians.
