It will be possible to use the service of non-cash payment in buses of the region from mid-summer 2023.
We would like to remind you that the Lviv region will be the first in Ukraine to introduce an electronic ticket on suburban and intercity bus routes. The company “Smart Tiket Technology” was chosen as the investor in the implementation of the automated system of accounting for fare payment.
When the e-ticket will work:
Diagnostics of all ATPs are currently underway (it is necessary to count the number of buses on which the equipment will be installed and to determine their models) and the purchase of equipment (it will take approximately 2 months). They plan to install more than 1,000 validators. The first validators will be installed already in January-February. All equipment according to the contract will be installed by mid-summer of this year. During this period, the e-ticket will work. Until the end of 2023, there will be a transition period, when you can also pay in cash. In the next year, Lviv Oblast should switch to cashless settlement by decree.
How to pay for travel:
Payment will be made using validators – devices installed in buses. The passenger enters the vehicle and applies a bank card, a suitable gadget, an electronic ticket or a special payment card to the validator. The system will automatically pay the fare according to the tariff grid of the corresponding route. This will speed up passenger boarding and minimize passenger-driver contact, which will allow the latter to focus exclusively on driving the vehicle.
What are the payment methods:
- An ordinary bank payment card or any suitable gadget (smartphone, smart watch) for attachment to the validator.
- Purchase of an electronic ticket at the top-up terminal. The passenger will receive a qr code that can be used to pay for the fare. It is planned to establish 50 points of sale and replenishment of electronic tickets in the region.
- Electronic application. You can buy a ticket without leaving your home and use it later. The application will store tickets in electronic form.
- Special payment cards. These cards will contain both information for preferential categories and the possibility of real payment if the owner replenishes it.
How beneficiaries will pay for travel:
They plan to issue 500,000 special payment cards that will be used to pay for preferential categories of citizens. A resident can get this card in his community. This will make it possible to make a transparent account of the payment of fares for preferential categories, because there will be a real picture of the number of passengers who use preferential fares on suburban and intercity bus routes.
Will the price of a travel ticket change and what does it depend on:
The carrier will regulate the tariff. The introduction of an e-ticket will allow establishing a real passenger flow and removing “black cash” from circulation. And these are clear transport statistics, a real number of beneficiaries, full transparency of fare collection, reduction of driver payment fraud, an increase in the tax base due to a decrease in the level of turnover of unaccounted cash, as well as the ease of developing new tariffs in accordance with the needs of passengers.
