The Defense Council of the Lviv Region has approved a decision to stop traffic in populated areas during the daily moment of silence observed at 9:00 AM. Police officers will remind drivers to pause their vehicles, with the exception of emergency service vehicles.
This initiative aligns with the nationwide moment of silence established by President Volodymyr Zelensky in March 2022 to honor those who lost their lives in the war.
In Lviv, the practice of stopping traffic was supported by the public initiative “Vshanu,” inspired by the late Hero, medic, and journalist Iryna Tsybukh, who sacrificed her life for Ukraine.
Key dates include February 20, dedicated to the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, and February 24, marking the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion by Russia. Maksym Kozytsky, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, urges residents to pause and honor the fallen at 9:00 AM on these significant days.
“Let the 9:00 AM moment of silence become a daily tradition of gratitude and remembrance for those who gave their lives for Ukraine,” emphasized Maksym Kozytsky.
