Two more Soviet-era monuments were decommunized in the Lviv Region

The plans of the Lviv OVA plan to complete the decommunization process in full by the end of 2023.

As the representative of the regional working group on decommunization Oleg Radyk reported, today, April 26, two more objects of Soviet propaganda were demolished in two settlements of Lviv region.

According to the decision of the Mostysk community and with the support of the regional working group on decommunization, a monument to a Soviet soldier, which was part of the memorial complex to Soviet soldiers in the village of Malniv in Mostyshchyna, was dismantled.

Another object, namely the figure of a woman in mourning, was dismantled from the cemetery of Soviet soldiers located on the street. Mickiewicz, in the central part of Mostysk. The decision to relocate the cemetery was issued by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine on January 5, 2023.

The “Cemetery of Soviet Soldiers” is a historical monument of Soviet importance, therefore, in 2022, the Mostysk City Council applied to the Ministry for permission to move the graves of Soviet soldiers and mass graves from the public space of the central part of the city to the territory of the city cemetery of Mostysk.

We will remind you that at the end of 2022, a regional commission on decommunization was created in the Lviv Oblast at the Lviv Oblast.
