In Lviv, at the junction of Shevchenka and Kovcha streets on the outbound route towards Riasne, work on the construction of the parallel overpass has moved to a new stage: the contractor has completed the installation of reinforced concrete slabs between all 12 bridge girders. These slabs will form the base for subsequent concreting of the monolithic carriageway slab. LKP «Lvivavtodor» reported on the progress of the works.
According to the enterprise, the next step will be the installation of formwork and reinforcement of the structure, after which concreting of the overpass monolithic slab will begin. Director of LKP «Lvivavtodor» Mykola Vlasiuk noted that all girders have been installed and the placement of slabs between them has been completed, so construction is now moving on to forming a continuous bridge deck.
Preparatory works for the construction of the parallel overpass on Kovcha Street began in March. The new facility will have three traffic lanes, a combined cycling and pedestrian zone, and traffic light control. The project is intended to ease the heavy traffic flow on Shevchenka Street and create the conditions needed to reconstruct the existing unsafe bridge.
The indicative timeframe for completing the entire scope of works is 11 months, although installation of the structures is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The total project cost is UAH 106.8 million. Construction is being financed with the involvement of loan funds, as the city budget resources are primarily directed towards supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The works are being carried out by the contractor Onur.
