In Lviv, at the junction of Shevchenka and Kovcha streets, one of the key stages in the construction of the new overpass towards Riasne has been completed — all 12 bridge beams have been installed. This was reported by LKP «Lvivavtodor».
According to the company, each beam is about 30 metres long, so their installation required high precision and well-coordinated work by the builders and specialised machinery. On the basis of the installed elements, a continuous monolithic structure will be created, designed to withstand the load from heavy traffic.
“To complete such a volume of complex work so quickly is a really impressive result. It became possible thanks to the professionalism and effective interaction of the entire team. My thanks to everyone working on this. Once these beams are installed, there should be a continuous monolithic structure capable of withstanding the load from traffic,” said Mykola Vlasiuk
Preparatory works for the construction of the parallel overpass on Kovcha Street began in March. The new facility will have three traffic lanes, a combined cycling and pedestrian zone, and traffic light control. The implementation of the project is expected to ease the burden on the heavily congested Shevchenka Street and make it possible to carry out the reconstruction of the existing unsafe bridge.
The indicative timeframe for completing the entire scope of works is 11 months, although the installation works are planned to be finished by the end of the year. The project cost is 106.8 million UAH. The construction is being financed with borrowed funds, as the city budget resources are being directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The works are being carried out by the contractor “Onur”.
