New pedestrian traffic lights installed at the intersection of Levytskoho – Mechnikova streets in Lviv

Additional pedestrian traffic lights have been installed at the regulated pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Levytskoho and Mechnykov streets.

This will allow people with limited mobility to cross Mechnikova Street safely, including those with limited mobility, and will help reduce accidents in this area.

The decision was made in response to an appeal from residents. This was reported by Lvivavtodor.

“The new poles and two pedestrian traffic lights were installed directly on the safety island at the intersection of these streets. This will allow us to increase the duration of the green traffic signal for pedestrians crossing Mechnikova Street without interfering with the duration of the traffic phases. Now pedestrians can cross the road in stages: first, cross one lane on the green light, stop and wait for the next permissive signal on the safety island, and then cross the other lane,” Lvivavtodor said.

The utility company added that such a solution will allow all pedestrians, including those with limited mobility, to safely cross Mechnikova Street.

By the way, Lvivavtodor operates 170 traffic lights, which is more than 2,100 traffic lights.

To date, 35 traffic lights in Lviv have been equipped with a backup power supply.
