On Chervona Kalyna Avenue in Lviv, specialists from LCP “Lvivavtodor” have completed the modernisation of the traffic light equipment. The changes affected areas near the “VAM” shopping centre and opposite the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary UGCC. Adaptive regulation and prioritisation for trams have been implemented, with plans for buses and trolleybuses in the future.
During the upgrade, new controllers with adaptive functions were installed, and cables and traffic light equipment were laid and reconnected. The project was divided into two sections for more effective traffic management.
The company’s director, Mykola Vlasyuk, noted that this is just the beginning of the modernisation plan on Chervona Kalyna Avenue. The next stages will include updating intersections with Horinia and Khotkevych Streets and the “Shuvar” market. This will not only reduce journey times but also increase safety for pedestrians.
The upgrade of the traffic lights allows them to remain autonomous during power outages, enabling them to operate for 6 to 24 hours thanks to alternative power sources.
