Memorial plaques erected in Stryi district to commemorate fallen countrymen

Memorial plaques in honour of the Heroes Ivan Pereyma, Andrii Vereshchynskyi and Taras Tymkiv were unveiled on the facade of the local school in the village of Demnia, Trostianets community.

Ivan Pereyma, born in 1972, a musician by profession, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in early 2023. He served as a staff sergeant and anti-tank weapons gunner with the 1st Mechanised Battalion of the 117th Separate Mechanised Brigade. His musical talent earned him the call sign “Mozart” among his comrades. Ivan died on 20 August 2023 near the village of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia, saving the life of a comrade. He was awarded the Order for Courage, III class.

Andrii Vereshchynskyi, born in 1970, studied at the Lviv Road Technical College after graduating from school and worked at the LEONI enterprise. In the summer of 2023, he was mobilised to defend the country and served in the military unit A 0693 in Bakhmut. He died on 6 August 2023 as a result of an explosive injury near the village of Spirne, Donetsk region.

Taras Tymkiv, born in 1992, served in the 214th separate special battalion. During a mortar attack near Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region on 24 July 2024, he sustained a serious head injury. Ten days later, on 4 August, Taras died in hospital in Zaporizhzhia.
