At the entrance to Lviv from the Vynnyky side, on Lychakivska Street, around 50% of the work has been completed on the construction of a new one-hundred-metre retaining wall made of gabions. LKP “Lvivavtodor” reported this.
The wall is being built as part of additional works under the major overhaul of Lychakivska Street on the section from Bukova Street to the city boundary. The structure of metal frames filled with stone is intended to reinforce the slope along the road and improve traffic safety.
According to the municipal enterprise, most of the work is carried out manually, with specialised machinery used to transport and supply the stone. Workers assemble metal mesh baskets, pack them tightly with stone and tie them together, creating a continuous, robust structure.
The director of LKP “Lvivavtodor”, Mykola Vlasiuk, noted that construction of the retaining wall on Lychakivska Street has reached its halfway point, and this structure will provide reliable reinforcement of the slope and improve safety for all road users.
Works to reinforce retaining walls and slopes on both sides of the road on the section from Bukova Street to the city boundary have been under way since 19 March. They are being carried out by the contractor TOV “Avtomagistral-Pivden”. Due to the operation of heavy specialised machinery, certain sections of the road are being temporarily closed to traffic, and traffic is organised in a contraflow system with traffic light control.
