At the entrance to Lviv from the side of Vynnyky, on Lychakivska Street, the construction of a new retaining wall more than 100 metres long has been completed. The structure is made of gabions — rectangular metal mesh boxes densely filled with grey split stone.
The works were carried out on the instructions of LKP «Lvivavtodor» by the contractor TOV «Avtomagistral-Pivden» as part of additional major repairs to Lychakivska Street on the section from Bukova Street to the city boundary.
Landscaping of the adjacent area is currently under way on this section. According to the director of LKP «Lvivavtodor», Mykola Vlasiuk, once these works are completed, traffic here is expected to be restored in the near future, of which a separate announcement will be made.
As a reminder, since 19 March, works have been ongoing on Lychakivska Street on the section from Bukova Street to the city boundary to reinforce the retaining walls and slopes on both sides of the road. Due to the use of large specialised machinery, certain sections are being temporarily closed to traffic, and vehicle movement is organised in a contraflow system with traffic light control.
