The night of 15 July was marked by a severe thunderstorm and prolonged heavy rain in Drohobych. The heavy rain continued for several hours in a row. However, the consequences of the bad weather were avoided.
This was reported by Volodymyr Suda, director of the Municipal Management Service, during a Monday staff meeting at the city council.
According to the official, traditionally, the most problematic areas in the city are the Volodymyr the Great, Konovalets, Vokzalna Square, Solonyi Stavok Street and the area of Gymnasium No. 5.
This morning, as a result of heavy rain, minor flooding was recorded on Volodymyr Velykyi Street in the area of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the railway station. Public utilities promptly arrived at the scene and cleaned out the rainwater inlets, so the water quickly drained away,” said Suda.
This time, the city’s flood control system worked well, so there were no problems in other neighbourhoods that are usually prone to flooding.
