Novoiavorivsk City Council amends social programmes and approves support for veterans and athletes

On 27 August, the 93rd regular session of Novoiavorivsk City Council took place, at which councillors adopted a number of decisions on social support for residents, veterans and the development of sport in the community.

The “Strength of Generations” Programme has been amended. From now on, war veterans covered by this programme will, in addition to swimming sessions, be able to visit the gym and the salt room at the START Sports and Recreation Centre free of charge. These opportunities will be implemented taking into account the use of funds from the state “Veterans’ Sport” programme within the “Active Parks – Locations of a Healthy Ukraine” project. The procedure and conditions for visits will be determined by the administration of the START Sports and Recreation Centre.

Councillors also made changes to the Comprehensive Programme of Social Support for Certain Categories of Citizens – residents of the Novoiavorivsk community. The programme provides for a one-off financial assistance payment to persons with the status of combatant, discharged from military service, who have undergone prolonged treatment and/or surgical intervention. Separate provision is made for financial assistance to persons with disabilities as a result of war. The procedure for annual assistance to the parents and wives of fallen Defenders of Ukraine on Defenders of Ukraine Day has also been clarified.

At the session, the Programme and Regulations on the payment of financial rewards to athletes and coaches were approved. Rewards will be available to those who train or work in sports institutions, clubs and public sports organisations within the community and who demonstrate significant results in competitions.

By a separate decision, a Programme to support war veterans was adopted. It provides for free mandatory medical examinations for veterans who are registered or actually reside in the territory of the Novoiavorivsk community.

The financial block of the session concerned the community budget: councillors amended the 2026 budget, heard a report on its implementation for the first half of the year and approved the budget forecast for 2027–2029. They also adopted a number of decisions on supporting military formations and strengthening the social protection of residents.

During the meeting, a report was heard from the community police officers of the VVG of the Yavoriv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region on their work for the first half of 2026. A significant part of the agenda was devoted to land issues, in particular the preparation of certain plots for land auctions.

All the items included on the agenda of the 93rd session were considered by councillors, and the relevant decisions were adopted.
