Northern Lviv: Discussing Future Development with Residents

A discussion on potential development scenarios for the northern part of Lviv took place. Five international teams of architects and urban planners from Ukraine and Europe presented their projects to the residents. Participants of the event, including local residents, representatives of public organisations, and businesses, shared their thoughts on improving infrastructure and quality of life in the area.

The event is part of the process of forming development scenarios for the area, allowing for the consideration of opinions from the community, experts, and the city. The area covers the northern part of Lviv between Zamarstynivska, Mazepy, Hrinchenka, Bohdan Khmelnytsky streets, and the city boundary. Residents expressed opposition to active transit traffic through the area, emphasising the need for the development of convenient local connections and improvements to public transport.

The chief architect of Lviv, Anton Kolomeytsev, noted the importance of preserving the green hills and expanding social infrastructure. The architect teams focused on preserving green spaces, improving transport infrastructure, and creating sustainable communities. Among the proposals are the opening of the river, the creation of therapeutic gardens, and semi-private gardens for residents.

Based on the teams’ developments and expert recommendations, a coordinated spatial development concept for the area will be formed. In the summer of 2026, the refined concepts will be publicly presented as part of the Lviv Urban Forum.
