For the fourth year in a row, Drohobych has been operating paid parking zones, which have helped relieve the city’s central streets of chaotic traffic congestion.
These parking lots are located on M. Lysenko, I. Franko, D. Halytskoho, Sholem Aleichem streets and in the central part of the city – the entrance from I. Mazepa street.
According to Volodymyr Krasulyak, Chief Engineer of Municipal Utility Company “SMU”, a mobile parking system is operating in the city for the convenience of drivers through the UNIP application. Thus, using the mobile application, drivers can find a parking lot, plot a route on a map and pay for parking with their bank card.
Parking through the mobile app in Drohobych is available at the following parking locations: Ivan Franko, Pylyp Orlyk, Danylo Halytskyi, and Mykola Lysenko streets.
According to Volodymyr Krasulyak, when using the app, there is no need to look for a parking meter and take a parking ticket, because thanks to the integrated control system, the municipal inspection is able to check the availability of parking fees by the license plate of each car.
Another advantage of the mobile app is that the UNIP app sends a notification to the driver’s phone when the paid parking period expires. This option helps prevent fines for parking violations.
Non-payment for a parking space is punishable by a fine of 20 times the cost of an hour of parking, i.e. UAH 200 (according to Article 152-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
The city’s paid parking zones also have parking machines that allow you to perform a number of banking and other transactions, such as paying for banking services, recharging your mobile phone, paying for cable TV services, etc.
We would like to add that the Municipal Management Service operates paid parking lots in Kotermak. They reported that over the past 2023 – from January to December – the income from the activities of the parking department amounted to UAH 2 million 667 thousand. Of this amount, Municipal Management Service paid UAH 2 million 577 thousand in taxes to the budgets of all levels from the activities of the parking division. Of which: PIT – UAH 132 thousand 700 thousand, unified social tax – UAH 100 thousand 60 thousand, military fee – UAH 11 thousand 100 thousand, parking fee – UAH 1 million 888 thousand.
