Why is this important to the reader? The weekend in the Lviv region was tumultuous due to numerous fire service call-outs to grass fires. In one day, 119 call-outs were made, with the total area destroyed by fire covering 14 hectares. This was reported by Lviv’s State Emergency Service.
In the village of Silets, located in Sheptytskyi district, the fire engulfed an area of 6,000 square metres, destroying six holiday homes. Thanks to the efforts of the firefighters, another four buildings were saved from the flames.
Meanwhile, in the village of Glukhovychi, in the Lviv district, the flames destroyed grass, shrubs, rubbish, and even five wooden structures before the unit arrived.
In the village of Khorosno, also in the Lviv district, the fire destroyed a wooden structure on private premises. The flames were stopped literally at the boundary of a residential building.
Citizens are urged to stop setting fire to dry grass, as it affects the safety of people, property, and Ukraine’s natural resources.
