Drohobych raises water tariff and prepares compensation for vulnerable residents

In Drohobych, the tariff for water supply and sewerage services has been revised, and a one-off compensation scheme has been prepared for socially vulnerable residents. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.

The new tariff is 87.30 UAH, which is 3.40 UAH higher than the rate previously approved by the state regulator, which was not applied to households. The decision to change the tariff was adopted at a meeting of the executive committee on 1 June to ensure the stable operation of the municipal enterprise “Drohobychvodokanal” and the uninterrupted provision of services.

On the instructions of Mayor Taras Kuchma, the Department of Social Protection of the Population has developed a Programme for the provision of one-off financial assistance to partially cover the cost of water supply and sewerage services. It is planned to be submitted for consideration at a session of Drohobych City Council on 11 June.

The Programme is aimed at residents most in need of support following the change in tariffs for the services of the municipal enterprise “Drohobychvodokanal”. It concerns pensioners, persons with disabilities, children with disabilities and large families facing difficult life circumstances. Around 9.5 million UAH has been earmarked from the community budget for the implementation of the Programme.

The assistance is planned to be provided in a targeted manner to those who genuinely need it. The City Council notes that this approach will make it possible to support the most vulnerable groups of the population while at the same time creating conditions for the stable operation of the water utility and the continued provision of quality water supply in the community.

For detailed information on how to take part in the Programme, residents can contact the Department of Social Protection of the Population of Drohobych City Council at the following addresses: Drohobych, Rynok Square, 1, office No. 3, telephone 22384; Stebnyk, 8 Mazepy Street, telephone 441009.
