In Drohobych, a digital database of cemeteries is being created

The Drohobych community is actively working on creating a digital database of cemeteries, which aims to provide accurate information about burials and available spaces. The project is coordinated by the city mayor Taras Kuchma, with veteran Oleh Lekhush, whose company Memoria Map offers digitisation services, participating in the discussions.

There are 51 cemeteries in the community. So far, seven have been digitised, enabling more efficient maintenance planning and preservation of burial records. For example, in Stebnyk on Mekelyta Street, full digitisation has been achieved with the geolocation of each grave identified.

This project is being undertaken to prevent the loss of burial data. Over time, some information may disappear without a trace, and digitisation is intended to preserve these crucial records. Drohobych is the first community in Ukraine to actively implement cemetery digitisation.
