In May 2026, various types of social benefits totalling UAH 3.4 million were paid to 900 residents of the Drohobych municipal territorial community, the Drohobych City Council reported.
The community has in place a comprehensive programme of social protection for people with physical disabilities. Under this programme, in May UAH 216,800 was paid to 269 people, including persons with Group I disabilities (bedridden) and persons with Group I visual impairments.
The programme also provides for concessions on payment for housing and communal services. In May, UAH 34,500 from the territorial community budget was allocated for this purpose to 13 recipients.
A separate programme of the Drohobych City Council provides for social protection of victims of political repression, UPA soldiers and members of their families. In May 2026, UAH 33,500 was allocated for monthly pension supplements for participants in the national liberation struggle, members of the Drohobych branch of the OUN-UPA Brotherhood, as well as for targeted assistance to political prisoners and rehabilitated victims of repression by the communist totalitarian regime of 1917–1991.
Despite the existing support programmes, many residents apply to the city mayor for one-off financial assistance. Such applications are considered by a standing city commission. During May 2026, 145 applications were submitted, on the basis of which targeted assistance totalling UAH 144,100 was granted.
In accordance with the Procedure for providing assistance to families raising children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, one family received UAH 10,000 in May.
Particular attention in the community is paid to Defenders of Ukraine, participants in the anti-terrorist operation and the Joint Forces Operation, persons with disabilities as a result of the war, families of fallen soldiers and families of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Under the municipal comprehensive programme, they received one-off cash assistance in May totalling UAH 995,000.
In line with the decision of the session of the Drohobych City Council of 11.12.2025 No.3688, compensation for individuals providing social care services on a non-professional basis amounted to UAH 190,500 in May.
Also in May, a one-off payment of financial assistance to mark Heroes’ Day was made in the amount of UAH 418,000.
Since the beginning of the year, the total amount of social benefits in the Drohobych community has reached UAH 13.5 million.
