Windows and doors were replaced in the Komarniv hospital to create comfortable living conditions for the elderly and people with disabilities.
The work was carried out thanks to the coordination of the Advisory and Coordination Centers and the strategy of the Lviv Oblast with the NGO “Let’s Help Together” with the support of the “Fondation de France”.
We would like to remind you that last week in Zobolotsy, the windows in the hospice and the doors in the premises of the village hospital were also changed.
This is already the second community that is actively implementing the service today and is carrying out repair work.
On the territory of the city of Komarno there are premises of a former hospital, which was once a part of the Horodotsk Central District. After its closure, the community faced the problem of eviction of people who had nowhere to return.
People with disabilities were accommodated in appropriate boarding houses, and this was the impetus for the introduction of social services in the territory of this community.
“Social support service is an opportunity to help people in need. It is necessary to understand that, unfortunately, the number of such persons will increase. Currently, about 50 internally displaced persons live in the premises of the hospital, including several people with disabilities,” said the head of the Komarniv City Council Ihor Cherevichnyk.
The provision of social services is planned on the basis of the Communal Institution “Center for the Provision of Social Services”, where qualified specialists work. The hospital also has a day hospital department and an emergency medical aid point.
The next steps of the territorial community will be the laying of new electrical wiring, the implementation of cosmetic repairs, the installation of a stairlift for the transportation of people with disabilities, and equipping the building with ramps.
“We recommend other communities of Lviv region to implement the service, because more and more responsibility is placed on local self-government bodies for providing social services and ensuring their implementation, and this forces the development of such places in each community. If a community is ready to pay services for the accommodation of its residents to another community, that’s good, but it should not be ruled out that at a certain moment there may simply be a lack of space,” he notes.
