Bridge on the M-09 highway in Kulykiv to close for three months with new detour routes toward Zhovkva and Lviv

The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Lviv Oblast has announced a temporary traffic closure at the bridge crossing located at km 141+459 on the state road M-09 Ternopil–Lviv–Rava-Ruska, within the urban-type settlement of Kulykiv.

The closure will begin on April 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to remain in place until July 27, 2026. In total, the restrictions are set to last for about three months. The reason is a major overhaul of the bridge, carried out as part of the restoration project on the Lviv–Rava-Ruska section of the M-09 road between km 129+807 and km 157+410. The works are being ordered by the Project Management Group of the Recovery Agency.

Detour options for drivers

Several temporary routes will be introduced for trucks and, where possible, for passenger cars traveling from Lviv toward Zhovkva and further onward.

Main detour routes

  1. Lviv – Malekhiv – Hamaliyivka – Vyslobovy – Zhovtantsi – Zvertiv – Artasiv – Zibolky – Zhovkva
    Drivers may also continue through Krekhiv to road R-84 and then head toward Rava-Ruska. The same route will function in reverse from Zhovkva to Lviv.
  2. Lviv – Riasna-Ruska – Strach – Lozyna – Dubrovytsia – Maidan – Krekhiv – Zhovkva
    This route will operate via road R-84. Traffic in the opposite direction will follow the same path in reverse order.
  3. Lviv – Malekhiv – Hamaliyivka – Vyslobovy – Zhovtantsi – Zvertiv – Kulykiv
    Vehicles will then continue via Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street, exiting onto Zhovkivska Street near the new supermarket in Kulykiv, and then proceed toward Zhovkva. The reverse route will mirror this scheme.

Temporary traffic scheme inside Kulykiv

During the bridge repair period, a separate traffic arrangement will operate within the settlement. It will apply only to passenger cars, emergency vehicles, and route buses.

Travel from Lviv toward Zhovkva

Drivers entering Kulykiv from the Lviv side will bypass the closed section through:

  • Mazepy Street, where one-way traffic will be introduced;
  • access to Hrushevskoho Street;
  • a further turn and movement onto Zahoroda Street;
  • exit near the Rukavychka supermarket.

Travel from Zhovkva toward Lviv

Vehicles coming from the Zhovkva side will follow a temporary route through:

  • Zahoroda Street;
  • connection to Hrushevskoho Street;
  • movement through the village of Nadychi;
  • re-entry onto Hrushevskoho Street in Kulykiv;
  • then one-way traffic toward Lviv with an exit near the mill onto Lvivska Street.

Key local traffic changes

For the duration of the restrictions:

  • Zahoroda Street in Kulykiv will remain open in both directions;
  • Hrushevskoho Street in Nadychi will also remain two-way;
  • traffic priority will change at the intersection leading toward Hrebintsi, Sulymiv, and Nove Selo;
  • from April 27, 2026, the main priority road will be the L-shaped section along Hrushevskoho Street in Nadychi;
  • all required warning and prohibition signs will be installed.

Bus service during the closure

During the repair works, buses traveling through Kulykiv will still include:

  • all routes heading toward Rava-Ruska;
  • buses serving the Zhovkva direction.

At the same time, buses on the Sokal direction will be rerouted as follows:

  • Zhovkva – Zibolky – Artasiv – Zvertiv – Zhovtantsi – Vysloboky – Hamaliyivka – Malekhiv – Lviv,

and back in the opposite direction.

Temporary parking restrictions

During the period of traffic reorganization, parking will be prohibited in Kulykiv:

  • near the Rukavychka supermarket;
  • close to the Dykanka restaurant.

Residents of Zahoroda Street are also asked not to leave their vehicles along the roadside, as parked cars may interfere with traffic flow.

Authorities involved in traffic coordination

To ensure that transport movement remains organized during the repair period, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Lviv Oblast is coordinating with:

  • the West Operational Command;
  • the National Police;
  • the State Emergency Service;
  • the Security Service of Ukraine;
  • Ukrtransbezpeka;
  • the regional and district military administrations of Lviv;
  • the Kulykiv Settlement Council;
  • the Lviv City Council.

Drivers are advised to plan their trips in advance, follow the temporary road signs, and take the updated detour scheme into account while the bridge in Kulykiv is under major repair. Local authorities say they will continue to provide updates on the progress of the works and on any further traffic changes.
