On 17 April 2026, a decision was made in Lviv to provide housing vouchers to 58 internally displaced persons. The Lviv City Council approved this decision at its meeting. The programme aims to provide housing for people who lost their homes due to occupation.
The committee reviewed 72 applications for assistance, of which 14 were rejected. Since the programme began, 819 applications from IDPs have been received, with 641 accepted and 178 rejected due to non-compliance.
“Housing is an important factor of stability and security for those who have lost it. We strive to quickly assist those in need while adhering to criteria to ensure the aid is fair,” — Halyna Hrynyk, acting head of Lviv’s social protection department.
Internally displaced persons may receive up to 2 million UAH for purchasing residential property, a plot of land, paying mortgage contributions, or repaying a mortgage loan. Applications for such assistance can be submitted via the ‘Diia’ portal.
However, vouchers are not provided to individuals who already own housing, have received other compensation, or permanent housing from the state. Denial is also possible due to the submission of inaccurate data.
