Illegally added storey to be demolished on Yeroshenka Street in Lviv

In Lviv, at 28 Yeroshenka Street, work has begun to demolish an unauthorised fifth storey of a building, which was added during a so-called reconstruction of an administrative and service facility without the necessary permit. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Liubomyr Zubach.

The case came to light after one of the residents contacted the city’s Hotline, which prompted an unscheduled inspection of the construction site by inspectors from the city’s DABC Inspectorate. During the inspection, specialists identified a number of breaches of urban planning legislation, in particular the fact that an additional storey had been built without authorisation.

In addition, during the works on the site there was a landslip, which damaged part of the grounds and buildings of the Sokol garage cooperative.

According to Liubomyr Zubach, the DABC Inspectorate repeatedly carried out inspections, drew up reports, imposed fines and issued orders to remedy the violations. Those fined included both the owners of the development — Skify Private Enterprise — and the main contractor, Halytska Budivelna Hildiya LLC. However, construction work on the site did not cease for a long time.

The city authorities were preparing to apply to the court for a compulsory demolition order. However, as the Deputy Mayor noted, the developer began demolishing the fifth storey voluntarily, and this work is currently ongoing.
