In Lviv, the lower asphalt layer has been laid on a 400-metre section of Zaliznychna Street

Reconstruction of Zaliznychna Street is ongoing in Lviv. On the section from Yasna Street to Sharanevycha Street, approximately 400 metres long, the contractor has completed laying the lower layer of asphalt concrete.

According to LKP “Lvivavtodor”, this is part of the second stage of the reconstruction. The asphalting was carried out in phases: first on the section from Yasna Street to Storozhenka Street, and then from Storozhenka Street to Sharanevycha Street. The lower layer of asphalt concrete has now been laid along this entire part of the street.

On this section, the replacement of utility networks has been completed, and the new water main is planned to be connected in the near future. At the same time, workers are continuing to build pavements, installing kerbs and edging stones.

The reconstruction of Zaliznychna Street has been commissioned by LKP “Lvivavtodor” and is being carried out by the contracting company Onur Construction International LLC. The project is financed with loan funds.

Since 7 September, the final stage of reconstruction has been under way on the section from Sharanevycha Street to Korotka Street. In this connection, a diversion has been organised around the part of the street closed to traffic.

  • From the side of Horodotska Street, traffic is directed via Khotynska Street, Holubovycha Street, Holovatskoho Street, then along Dekarta Street, Marka Vovchka Street, O. Stepanivny Street, Kvitky-Osnovianenka Street, Bortnianskoho Street and Lutskoho Street, exiting onto Shevchenka Street.
  • From the side of Shevchenka Street, traffic is permitted along Levandivska Street and Zaliznychna Street up to the closure point, after which the diversion runs via Yasna Street, Brativ Duzhykh Street and Brativ Mikhnovskykh Street, exiting onto Horodotska Street.

Repairs to Zaliznychna Street began at the end of last year. The project provides for the complete replacement of utilities, renewal of the road surface, the installation of two cycle lanes, pavement repairs and the creation of parking spaces. The carriageway and cycle lanes will be asphalt concrete, the parking spaces will be paved with setts, and the pavements will be laid with FEM slabs. Most pedestrian crossings will be raised to pavement level to make the street more convenient and step-free for all residents.

Earlier, on 2 July, the first refurbished section of Zaliznychna Street was opened to traffic — from the quasi-roundabout on Shevchenka Street to Yasna Street. Two-way traffic is already in operation here, cycle infrastructure and step-free pavements have been installed, and comfortable conditions have been created for all road users.
