On the grounds of Holosko Cemetery in Lviv, free transport for visitors will be introduced using a minibus. This initiative aims to ease access to burial sites, especially for the elderly, wheelchair users, and people with limited mobility. The City Council is currently determining the logistics, schedule, and operational mechanism of the transport.
Holosko Cemetery, covering over 100 hectares, is the largest in Lviv and ranks among the top three in Ukraine. More than 150,000 individuals are buried here, and pedestrian access to remote sections can be challenging.
“The Mercedes-Benz minibus we have received is planned to be used for transporting people around Holosko Cemetery. This will significantly ease access, particularly for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility,” stated Lviv’s Deputy Mayor Iryna Maruniak.
The bus, donated to Lviv by the German organisation “Rosinen Initiative”, has been transferred to the balance of the LKP “Municipal Ritual Service” as part of the cooperation with the sister city Würzburg within the framework of a project implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government.
