As of today, repairs have begun on Lychakivska Street. The works will be focused on the section from Pasichna Street to Hlynianskyi Tract Street.
Two traffic lanes will be arranged here in the direction of Vynnyk, as well as safety islands, the location of the public transport stop will be replaced and accessibility elements will be arranged.
According to the Lychakiv District Administration, after the completion of the repairs, this section should improve traffic capacity and reduce congestion.
“Lychakivska Street is a main street and one of the most difficult to drive on, as there are often traffic jams, particularly on the outskirts of the city.
Therefore, the Institute of Spatial Development has prepared a project, agreed upon by the Road Safety Commission and the police, which provides for the creation of another additional lane for traffic on the Lychakivska street – from Pasichna Street to Hlynianskyi Trakt Street. This will significantly increase the capacity of the street on the way out of the city and reduce the likelihood of congestion at this intersection.
We will arrange safety islands for pedestrians at the crossing of Lychakivska Street and Trakt Hlynianskyi Street. We will also remove one pedestrian crossing before the turn to Hlynianskyi Trakt Street, which created additional traffic jams and was dangerous for pedestrians,” says the Lychakivskyi District Administration.
To ensure the inclusiveness of Lychakivska Street, the project provides for the installation of continuous sidewalks through the side entrances on the section from Pasichna Street to Hlynyansky Street, lowering curbs within pedestrian crossings to the level of the carriageway, installing tactile paving elements, and raising the landing platform of the city public transport stop at the intersection with Hlynyansky Street to the height of the first step of the buses.
The works will cause some inconvenience to both drivers and pedestrians, but they will not affect the public transport scheme.
“We are setting a task for our road maintenance company to avoid any work that would require lane closures on working days. In the end, the works themselves do not require lane closures, only when the safety islands are being installed, traffic complications are possible,” Lychakiv district administration added.
The repairs are expected to last until the end of November. The cost of the repairs is approximately UAH 850 thousand.
