New Rules to Restrict E-Scooter Parking in Lviv

In Lviv, new rules are planned to be introduced for parking e-scooters due to numerous complaints from residents about their chaotic placement, which complicates movement. Representatives from the Department of Urban Mobility, the Patrol Police, and the Municipal Guard discussed this issue and developed a joint roadmap of solutions.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Mobility, Orest Oleskiv, noted that the city has several solutions to regulate the situation. Among them are an informational campaign for scooter users and new requirements for operators, which they must integrate into their software.

The city council plans to meet with e-scooter operators to agree on the implementation of these solutions. Lviv already has a memorandum of cooperation with rental services such as Bolt, E-WINGS, and JET. The largest number of scooters in the city is provided by Bolt, approximately 1,200 units.

As part of the cooperation with operators, restrictions are already in place: a ban on parking in the pedestrian zone of the city centre, a speed limit of 15 km/h in the central part, designated special zones for parking and loading scooters. These rules are planned to be extended to other areas of the city.
