Another stage of repairs has begun on Koniushynna Street in Lviv: work is currently under way on a new section approximately 350 metres long. Here, the road base is being reinforced, a two-layer asphalt surface is being laid, and new kerbs and additional storm drains are being installed. Part of the cost of the works is being covered by local businesses.
Due to the repairs, from Monday, 17 August, until and including 15 September, Koniushynna Street from the exit to the ring road in the direction of the Tri Slony shopping centre will be closed to private traffic. Public transport does not run along this street, so its routes remain unchanged.
According to the Lviv Zaliznychnyi District Administration, the repairs on Koniushynna Street have been divided into several stages. The first section, 450 m long — from building No. 19 to the Lviv city limits — was repaired from 18 June to 18 July. On this stretch the crushed-stone base was completely replaced with an asphalt-concrete surface, and kerbs and storm drains were installed. The works were carried out by Shliakhovyk-T LLC with deferred payment.
“We have divided the repairs on Koniushynna Street into sections. We have already completed the first section, 450 m long, and are now working on the next section, approximately 350 m in length. Local businesses have agreed to contribute to co-financing the works. To this end we will conclude a tripartite agreement with AV Invest Hrup LLC as the client for the repairs,” said Ihor Savka, head of the Zaliznychnyi District Administration.
On the second section, which is currently being repaired, the carriageway is being strengthened, as previously it was essentially a dirt road. Once the base has been reinforced, two layers of asphalt will be laid and additional storm drains installed to improve drainage.
Koniushynna Street is located on the outskirts of Lviv in an industrial area. Despite the lack of public transport, this road is important for private vehicles exiting onto the ring road and for relieving traffic on Horodotska Street.
The Lviv City Council recalls that after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, the city temporarily suspended major road repairs. However, further postponement of works leads to rapid deterioration of the surface and higher future repair costs. Therefore, in 2025, repairs to Zaliznychna Street began using loan funds, and in 2026, to Mazepa Street. Repairs with deferred payment are also under way or have been carried out on Stryiska, Heroiv UPA, Horodotska and Vynnychenka streets, while some sites, including Beskydska Street, are being restored in co-financing with local businesses.
