In Lviv, it has been decided to implement monitoring over the provision of social care services. This decision is important for residents as it helps to ensure the quality of service and the correct use of budget funds. According to the new measures, regional social protection departments will oversee those who care for individuals in exchange for state compensation.
The control procedure involves various inspections: scheduled at least once a year, as well as unscheduled inspections in cases of complaints or changes in circumstances. As a result of these checks, a report will be compiled, based on which a decision may be made regarding the continuation or cessation of compensation payments.
As of March 2026, 649 people in the Lviv community receive compensation for care on a non-professional basis, and 219 on a professional basis. The reduction in the number of recipients is linked to data verification and a review of eligibility for compensation.
The Acting Head of the Social Protection Department of the Lviv City Council, Halyna Grynyk, emphasised: “This decision is about responsibility and clarity. It is important not only to allocate assistance but also to ensure that the person truly receives the proper care. Budget funds must be used honestly and for their intended purpose.”
