In Lviv, the Residency of Ideas for Social Managers Has Begun

The Residency of Ideas under the title ‘The Caring City: Lviv’s Social Policy’ has commenced in Lviv. This event will run from 5th to 8th May, bringing together 15 managers and practitioners from various regions of Ukraine, such as Sumy region, Donetsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Odesa, and Ternopil region, involved in the social sphere.

The programme includes visits to a city shelter for internally displaced persons and a support centre for the homeless. Particular attention will be given to supporting veterans, children, and people with disabilities, as well as the UNBROKEN ecosystem and the Resilience Centre.

The aim of the residency is not only to familiarise participants with Lviv’s social support services but also to work on real social cases that participants can adapt within their own communities. According to Valentyna Bartoshyk, the residency focuses on dialogue and joint thinking rather than demonstration.

Volodymyr Holovaty, the Director of the Social Support Centre, explained that for the team, participation in the Residency is not just an opportunity to showcase infrastructure, but also their approach to working with people. He emphasised the importance of a supportive environment for recovery.

The event will conclude with participation in the ‘Dignified Longevity’ Forum, which is dedicated to supporting older people.
